Here are my top ten books I’ve read in 2024 plus some bonuses! It was hard to whittle it down but these are the books that I remember enjoying the most or else have stuck in my mind.

Dazzling

Chikodili Emelumadu

A brilliant book rich in Nigerian myth – the two girls Ozoemena and Treasure are still vivid in my mind.

Clear

Carys Davies

A wonderful little book about a clearance on a Scottish island – I particularly loved all the language elements.

The Witching Tide

Margaret Meyer

A beautifully written but brutal story of a witch hunt with an unforgettable main character.

The Maiden

Kate Foster

I wanted to follow the women of this book wherever they went – such compelling characters.

Hagstone

The Shape of Darkness

Laura Purcell

A brilliant ghost story with twists and turns and moments I simply didn’t see coming.

Children’s Book Bonus:

Impossible Creatures

Katherine Rundell

An utterly brilliant book of magical creatures and extremely lovable characters. I adored every page.

Art Book Bonus:

Faeries in the Faultlines

Iris Compiet

It is simply gorgeous.

The Book Faeries in the Faultlines leant against books with two dog bookends.

I can safely say from these books it’s been another fantastic year of reading for me. I hope there’s a book in this list you have enjoyed too or else has taken your fancy!

Here’s to more good books in 2025!
