An utterly delightful ghost story with a difference – I loved everything about this book.
Clytemnestra
Costanza Casati
A gorgeously written retelling of the fierce and formidable Greek myth character Clytemnestra.

Dazzling
Chikodili Emelumadu
A brilliant book rich in Nigerian myth – the two girls Ozoemena and Treasure are still vivid in my mind.
Clear
Carys Davies
A wonderful little book about a clearance on a Scottish island – I particularly loved all the language elements.
The Witching Tide
Margaret Meyer
A beautifully written but brutal story of a witch hunt with an unforgettable main character.
The Burial Plot
Elizabeth Macneal
A twisty, riveting historical fiction book that kept me on my toes.

The Maiden
Kate Foster
I wanted to follow the women of this book wherever they went – such compelling characters.
Hagstone
Sinead Gleeson
A wonderfully strange book with gorgeous prose – I loved the unexplained supernatural phenomenon.

The Shape of Darkness
Laura Purcell
A brilliant ghost story with twists and turns and moments I simply didn’t see coming.
The Wood at Midwinter
Susanna Clarke
A beautiful story, gorgeously illustrated. Absolute perfection.

Children’s Book Bonus:
Impossible Creatures
Katherine Rundell
An utterly brilliant book of magical creatures and extremely lovable characters. I adored every page.
Art Book Bonus:
Faeries in the Faultlines

It is simply gorgeous.

I can safely say from these books it’s been another fantastic year of reading for me. I hope there’s a book in this list you have enjoyed too or else has taken your fancy!
